Families Go Wild in the Kitchen Garden!
Today was the Saturday before Shrove Tuesday, so of course it was Pancakes on the menu!
We had two recipes for pancakes to choose from - thin or thick. Luckily the volunteers agreed on what type they wanted to eat, so thin pancakes it was!
We had most of the ingredients already, but there was something we had to get from the farmyard… You guessed it - eggs!
Once we had the eggs, we were ready to go! We mixed them with milk, oil, flour and salt, into a lovely smooth batter.
We left the batter to rest while we prepared our fillings. We chopped strawberries and bananas, as well as pears, which we cooked with cinnamon and cardamom. The smell was amazing! Once the fillings were ready, we started cooking the pancakes!
We topped our pancakes with our yummy fruit and yoghurt, and drizzled maple syrup over them as well. They tasted great, as well as being fun to make!
