Families Go Wild for Birds!

This week was all about birds! It was the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, in which people all over the country took part. Although we didn’t spend an hour birdwatching (it was very cold!), we did dedicate our session to birds!

We started by making bird feeders, as there is not a lot of food about for birds in Winter. We made them using pine cones, peanut butter, and bird seed.

We tied wool to the pine cones, so we could hang the bird feeders on branches around the farm. We tried to do this before we smothered the pine cones in peanut butter, so we wouldn’t get too sticky!

We made loads of feeders, to feed birds all around the farm. We had a look at which birds might eat from the feeders we made, and which birds we had seen before.

We hung up our bird feeders all over the farm, on different tree branches. Then, it was time to make our own birds!
