Families Go Wild at Imbolc!

Imbolc is the time of year halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. As we like to do at Families Go Wild, we celebrated today by having a fire!

To celebrate the slow warming and ever sooner arrival of Spring, we made our own colourful birds! Each one had it’s own personality and style…

Once we had made our birds, we collected sticks and stripped off the bark on one end. Then, we made a lovely salty and sweet dough, which we shaped into thin snakes, and then twirled round the sticks. We cooked the bread on the fire and it tasted delicious. We even made an extra batch of dough!

It was a windy day, and the fire was quite smoky. A lot of us got smoke in our eyes, but one volunteer had the perfect solution! Swimming Goggles!
